Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) MLA Viresh Borkar has stated that the RGP is not merely a political organisation, but an ideological revolution within the minds of the Goan people and is a movement that will never come to an end.
Speaking to reporters in Assagao during a visit to Siolim constituency, Borkar dismissed rumours about the party’s demise and labelled them as mere fabrications spread by opponents.
Stating that the party intends to move forward to defeat the BJP, Borkar said the people of Goa desire a political change to safeguard their rights.
“The party is rapidly building its base in about 30 constituencies across Goa, garnering significant public support in areas such as Siolim, Calangute, Thivim, Saligao, and Pernem. The sentiments of people are being gauged through systematic surveys conducted throughout the State,” stated Borkar.
“In light of upcoming political developments, preliminary discussions regarding an alliance with opposition parties are underway. A final decision on seat-sharing will only be reached following further meetings between the two sides. While talks about an alliance are ongoing, the party’s primary focus remains on strengthening its organisational structure across the state.”
Responding to a query on alliance discussions with the Congress, Borkar emphasised that RGP remains firm on its 11-point core agenda.
“The party insists that issues such as the rights of the 'sons of the soil' (POGO), land rights, conservation of water and the environment must be included in any 'Common Minimum Programme’,” said Borkar.
