RGP flags unauthorised representation to CEO

MLA and State unit president seek verification of party representatives amid internal rift

MAPUSA

The Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) has approached the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), raising concerns over individuals allegedly representing the party at election-related training programmes, meetings and conferences without authorisation.

In a memorandum submitted to the CEO, RGP National President Viresh Borkar and State President Shavina Shirodkar sought the election authorities’ attention to the participation of individuals who, the party maintains, have not been authorised to speak or act on its behalf at official engagements.

The representation comes amid a rift within the RGP, with suspended party treasurer Ajay Kholkar making statements against Borkar.

The memorandum highlights concerns over who is legitimately authorised to represent the party before election authorities. The RGP leadership has called for the credentials of individuals attending official election-related programmes in the party’s name to be verified, stressing the need for clarity in communication between the party and the election machinery.

The memorandum seeks the CEO’s consideration and appropriate action. However, the party has not identified the allegedly unauthorised individuals or specified the training programmes and meetings in question.

The development assumes significance amid the party’s internal differences, with the dispute over representation potentially adding another dimension to the ongoing rift between the rival camps.
