Revolutionary Goans Party President Manoj Parab outlined his party’s focus on producing youth leaders who will work towards the betterment of the youth in the State.

Addressing a media conference in Panaji on Saturday, Parab pointed out that RGP was formed on the foundation of youth and now there is a need for more youth to come forward and take responsibility.

“Everybody says that youth is the future but RGP believes that youth is the present. Until and unless the youth take the lead in the present, their future will remain bleak,” Parab stated and slammed the political parties for using youth only for their political gains.

“Today, we see that various political parties are using youth for their political campaigns by promising them doles and employment,” Parab added while chiding that the majority of the time these promises are never fulfilled.

“So, we as a political party want to empower the youth to become self-reliant by imparting various skills so that they do not have to rely on others,” Parab said and urged the youth to join RGP in large numbers to strengthen the youth base of the party.

When questioned on the need to have a retirement age for politicians, Parab said that though he cannot speak about other political parties, RGP believes in having more youth involved in the political setup just like their lone MLA Viresh Borkar who became MLA at 28.

Others who spoke included youth wing president Ashlon Rodrigues, Navelim youth president Clive Colaco and State youth team member Ved Ranade who spoke about issues faced by the youth, particularly on the employment front.

Priol youth president Sankalp Naik and St Cruz youth president Vishal Priolkar were also present.
