Giving a huge boost to the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, the party has been recognised as a State political party by the Election Commission of India.

The announcement was made by RGP President Manoj Parab at Panaji on Saturday, where he informed that the ECI recognised the party as a State party based on its around 10% vote share during the 2022 Assembly elections.

“We received the communication from ECI on January 24,” Parab stated while adding that with the recognition as a State party, it has given RGP a major boost ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

MLA Viresh Borkar then informed that the Football symbol has also been officially recognised as the symbol of RGP.

“From now on, we will contest in all the elections on the Football symbol as it is now permanently allotted to RGP,” Borkar said while stating that it is a proud moment for RGP for having gained State political party status within two years of contesting Assembly elections.

RGP co-founder Vishvesh Naik then unveiled the party flag with reddish brown colour at the top and blue at the bottom, and the symbol football in the middle.

Later, the revolutionaries who had gathered in large numbers near the RGP’s Panaji office went in a celebration frenzy beating the dhol, applying colours on each other and shouting slogans of ‘Football’ and ‘Uzzo’.
