OLD GOA
The Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) has demanded a thorough probe into the incidents of Pakistan flags being painted in Canacona and Mapusa, while calling for severe action against the accused involved.
Addressing reporters in Panaji on Friday, RGP President Manoj Parab said these incidents have occurred in areas where there is a large migrant population.
“No Goan will paint Pakistan flags, and these are the handiwork of migrants who are staying in slum areas. The police should concentrate on these areas to catch the culprits,” Parab said, while reiterating the party’s demand for demolishing such slum areas where anti-social elements are
hiding.
“If slums are demolished, then these outside anti-social elements will have no place to hide, and incidents like the painting of Pak flags will not occur,” Parab stated.
He claimed that the security agencies, particularly the Goa Police, have utterly failed in tackling the anti-social elements operating from such slum areas.
Parab further criticised the verification drive of the Goa Police, calling it nothing but a farce that is undertaken only when incidents like Pahalgam happen.
“What has come out of these verification drives? Nothing,” Parab stated, and demanded that the government should initiate the demolition of slums rather than conducting such farcical verification drives.
Sam Naik from Canacona and Anish Naik from Bicholim also spoke to the media.
