RGP to raise issue of Bondvoll Lake's draining in Assembly

Divulging this to reporters during the party’s St Cruz block visit to the Lake, on Sunday, RGP treasurer Ajay Kholkar informed that their MLA Viresh Borkar will raise the issue as it is a very serious criminal offence and needs to be investigated thoroughly.

“We have been following the issue ever since it was first reported. But, through Google imaging we found that the Lake water was full till the month of September. So, whatever mischief done was in the months of October and November,” Kholkar stated while questioning how it went unnoticed.

“The farmers as well as the groundwater of the village is dependent on this Lake and it is going to have adverse affect not only on farming but the wells as well,” Kholkar stated.

“First, we are going to file official complaint through RGP so that we are kept in the loop on any action that is taken by the authorities,” he stated.

“Also, RGP is going to raise the issues in the forthcoming winter Assembly through our MLA Viresh Borkar either through star question, zero hour mention or calling attention,” Kholkar informed.

St Cruz RGP leader Licio Roncon demanded that continuous police monitoring needs to be undertaken in the area so that such incident is not repeated in the future.

“If this was done earlier, then the incident could have been avoided,” he added.

Further, Roncon chided the call of the Santa Cruz panchayat to public to visit the Bondvoll Lake.

“Everybody knows that there is a legal dispute between two parties here and if any untoward incident occurs then who would be responsible?” he questioned while stating that only if police are stationed here then only one can be assured of safety of the visitors.

“Therefore, our demand is that the Home Department should also be involved and police should be posted here,” Roncon stated and demanded that the area around the Bondvoll Lake should be notified as no development zone.
