Reacting sharply to the statements made by an activist against the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) over hill-cutting activities, St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar has slammed the activist for speaking on the issue “without any knowledge”.
“The said project is approved by the Town and Country Planning (TCP) department as well as the local panchayat and other authorities,” Borkar pointed out while stating that the RGP members have been fighting against such projects without much success.
“When the TCP and the panchayat are approving such projects, what RGP can do about it?” Borkar questioned and advised the activist to first get his facts right and then speak. “The said activist is targeting RGP for the sake of it and it has demoralised the workers, due to which I am compelled to speak on the issue,” Borkar informed The Goan.
He further advised the activist to do something about the hill-cutting activity and not just post videos on social media. “Posting a video on social media and doing nothing is easy. Please file a complaint with the authorities concerned just like RGP and then talk,” Borkar said while terming such activists as video activists who are out to malign the RGP.
“The government is ruled by the BJP, the panchayats are backed by the BJP. But this activist has no guts to target them,” Borkar further stated.
“I have lodged complaints with various authorities against such projects in St Andre. For instance, in Azossim-Mandur panchayat we got a project stopped after filing complaints against the same and this is what we get for our hard work,” the MLA said.
