Unsafe Goan seashore

Over the past year, our Goa seashore coastline has witnessed stray dogs creating a menace and depositing fecal matter on the seashore. Additionally, these dogs are infected with rabies and a type of skin disease. With the increasing number of trawlers, sea canoes, and other casino ships, human waste is directly discharged into the sea and seashore, leading to pollution of the ocean and marine life. The same fish that is consumed by us can be affected, and people swimming in the sea may contract diseases, of which many are unaware.

According to the Marine Pollution laws established by the International Maritime Organization, the direct discharge of oil, garbage, and sewage at sea is prohibited. The Goa State Pollution Board and the relevant authorities in Goa should inspect all dogs, boats, and ships operating in Goa. A sewage treatment plant containment tank should be installed on board to prevent discharge and pollution at sea. Furthermore, all industrial areas should be equipped with a sewage treatment plant for the proper treatment of sewage.
