The accident occurred around 8 pm when Tulshidas Wagonkar was riding through the area. A stray cow suddenly came onto the road, leaving him no time to react.
Wagonkar was thrown off the motorcycle and suffered serious head and body injuries. The cow was also hurt in the impact.
A Pink Force police team passing by reached the spot within minutes and rushed the injured youth to the Community Health Centre in Chaudi. He was later referred to South Goa District Hospital in Margao and then shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC) at Bambolim for further treatment.
Meanwhile, the injured cow remained on the road near the fallen motorcycle. A herd of stray cattle gathered at the spot and surrounded the injured animal. The animals later moved away after veterinary staff arrived and took the injured cow for treatment.
Following the accident, several local youths gathered at the site while police carried out a panchanama. They demanded urgent and concrete steps from the authorities to prevent such accidents caused by stray cattle.
Sidhesh Bandekar and others urged the government to take effective measures to stop such incidents in future.
They suggested setting up a Veterinary Enforcement Team to monitor stray cattle, track their movement, and address health concerns. They said such a team should catch cattle causing hazards on roads and shift them to gaushalas.
They also warned that unattended stray cattle pose a serious risk not only to motorists but also to the animals themselves, pointing to repeated accidents involving heavy vehicles in the past.
