A rider died while two others was injured when a motorcycle and a scooter collided with each other near Udupi Anand Sagar Restaurant at Arambol-Pernem.
The incident took place at about 11.45 am on Friday, when Gisle Merton (66), a Norwegian national presently residing at Junaswada-Mandrem was riding a motorcycle while proceeding from Arambol to Mandrem.
Merton was in the process of overtaking at a sharp turn when he collided with an oncoming scooter, driven by Bendict Richard (28) of Fort Kochi, Kerala, with Unni Ramesh (36) of Kottayam-Kerala as the pillion rider. They were proceeding from Mandrem to Arambol.
All riders riders fell on the ground and Unni Ramesh came under the wheels of a truck. Gisle Merton and Bendict Richard sustained minor injuries, while the pillion rider, Unni Ramesh, who was shifted for medical treatment at the Tuem Community Health Centre was declared as brought dead by the Medical Officer on duty.
