Rider killed, pillion serious after accident at Colvale

A youth from Santo Estevam died while another youth from Aldona was seriously injured late Monday night, when their two-wheeler rammed into a stationary truck near the Industrial Estate in Chikhali-Colvale.

The accident took place at about 11.30 pm on Monday, when the rider, Ravish Tari (20) of Santo Estevam, along with Laxman Bhosale (18) of Aldona had gone to visit a relative in Mitra-Camurlim.

While they were returning from Camurlim, Tari did not notice a truck parked by the roadside near a company and the two-wheeler rammed into the truck.

Both riders were seriously injured in the accident and were shifted to the District Hospital in Mapusa, where Tari was declared dead. Bhosale was later referred to the GMC hospital for further treatment.

After an autopsy, the body of Tari was handed over to the family.

Colvale Police Sub-Inspector Dattaraj Rane and Assistant Sub-Inspector Anil Pilgaonkar conducted an inquest into the accident. Further investigation is underway under the guidance of Police Inspector Sanjit Kandolkar.
