With construction on the railway overbridge at the 3rd Railway Gate on the Belagavi-Goa NH4A starting in full swing, Railway Police and railway authorities have advised commuters to follow diversions on the route and cooperate with authorities.
According to officials, heavy vehicles coming from Goa and Khanapur are to take the Congress Road, while light vehicles and two-wheelers will have to take a right turn near Bemco Hydraulics and go to the city via the 4th Railway Gate, Angol and RPD Cross.
Light vehicles going towards Shahapur and Vadgaon will have to take a right turn at the 2nd Railway Gate and proceed via RPD Cross to Vadgaon, Hindwadi, Yellur. There will be no entry for vehicles from the RPD side to Congress Road via the 2nd Railway Gate.
Meanwhile, vehicles coming from Belagavi city can either take the Congress Road or can go via Khanapur road as one-way traffic at the 3rd Railway Gate going towards Goa is open.
According to railway authorities, the diversions would remain in effect till work on the railway overbridge at the 3rd Railway Gate is complete, which according to the contractor is expected to be completed by December 2020, against the earlier deadline of March 2020.
According to the contractor, the delay was caused due to three months of heavy rains that lashed the region.
