Cortalim Zilla Panchayat member Merciana Vas on Wednesday launched the asphalting of internal roads along the Church Street in Velsao.
The project was initiated in the presence of Velsao Sarpanch Diana Gouveia, panchayat members, and other dignitaries.
Speaking to reporters, ZP Merciana Vas said the project was funded under ZP resources.
"The roads in this area have been in poor condition for a long time, and the heavy rains in recent months caused further damage, inconveniencing the residents. This project aims to address those issues," she said.
“This project has been taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 7 lakh and will provide relief to people. This work was possible with the support of the Velsao Sarpanch and panch members who proposed the project and gave me a chance to get the job done. I request all panch members to take up projects, adopt resolutions and forward them to me so that I can complete the projects and help the people of the village," said Vas.
Velsao Sarpanch Diana Gouveia and social worker Roquezinho D’Souza expressed gratitude to Vas for her efforts in addressing the needs of the village.
