Robbers snatched the mangalsutras of two women at Parra and Britona on Friday morning. The combined value of both the stolen mangalsutras is Rs 3.8 lakh.
In a shocking incident captured on CCTV, two motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched a mangalsutra from a 45-year-old woman, dragging her to the ground before fleeing the scene.
The incident occurred around 8.30 am on Friday when the victim was walking from her house to a nearby bus stop on her way to work.
According to the Mapusa police, the unidentified accused approached the woman on a bike, swiftly grabbed the gold chain worth Rs 2 lakh from her neck, and sped away.
The CCTV footage of the incident shows the woman being forcefully pulled as the chain was snatched, causing her to fall onto the road.
Following the complaint, the Mapusa police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the culprits.
In the second incident, a 63-year-old woman from Britona was walking on the road when a robber snatched her mangalsutra valued at Rs 1.8 lakh and fled. Porvorim police is investigating the case.
With the help of CCTV footage, the police have found that the same robbers are involved in both incidents.
