the goan I networkrPONDA rrThe incident occurred in the wee hours of Friday, but the complaint was filed late Friday night giving the accused enough time to flee with the machine. rPonda police informed that one Lekharaj Mashelkar, manager of Hitachi Payment Services lodged a complaint in this regard stating their ATM machine was robbed which had Rs 3.90 lakh loaded in it. rOn Friday morning police and bank officials were reluctant to give any information about the incident claiming that bank officials had taken the ATM machine for repairs. r“We have gone through the CCTV footage in which we have found three persons entering the ATM premises wearing raincoats and covering their face”, duty officer told The Goan. rLocals informed that the ATM was not manned by security guards, which even made the job of the robbers easy and managed to uninstall the machine without any fear. This ATM is located just around two hundred meters from the bank. r“We were shocked to see that the ATM machine had vanished from its premises. We immediately contacted the bank officials who rushed to the site to check for themselves”, a local said. rInterestingly, early Friday, rumours were rife that ICICI Bank’s ATM machine had mysteriously disappeared from the site. Robbers strike rich in Usgao, flee with loaded ATM
Despite tight security across the State over the spate of desecration of holy crosses, robbers managed to steal an ATM machine from Usgao belonging to ICICI bank containing Rs 3.90 lakh.
