Ambassador of Romania to India Sena Latif on Friday evening visited the newly developed People’s Path promenade at Fatorda, accompanied by MLA Vijai Sardesai, ahead of its inauguration on Saturday. Impressed by the architecture and hospitality, Latif said India and Romania shared several similarities and expressed interest in exploring projects between Romania and Goa through people-to-people interactions.
“After coming here, I felt at home because of the hospitality and architecture. The project looks good and resembles a European city,” she said.
Stretching 300 metres on either side from the KTC Bus Stand to Old Market Circle, the promenade celebrates Goa’s identity, heritage and community spirit. Titled ‘Fatorda’s Goan Identity’, it features 66 replanted coconut trees, a traditional humbro, laterite walls and murals. Attractions include ‘Carpet of Joy’, an installation using 60,000 upcycled plastic bottles by artist Dr Subodh Kerkar, and interactive art installations.
The two-day inauguration celebrations will feature cultural performances, live music, art installations, a farmers’ market, food stalls and fire and juggling shows.
