Row over inauguration of Chandor bridge

MARGAO

Even as the stage is set for the inauguration of the new Chandor road over bridge at the hands of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, a row of sorts broke out on the eve of the inauguration since the invitation finds no mention of the name of Curtorim ZP member Michele Rebello on the invitation card.

Interestingly, the name of Sarpanch of Guirdolim also did not figure on the invitation cards. And, if sources are to be believed, PWD engineers and others rushed to Guirdolim on Thursday to invite the Sarpanch Sonia Fernandes and the Panchayat members for the inauguration scheduled on Friday morning after a couple of Panchas threatened to boycott the programme.

Congress leader Moreno Rebello has hit out at the ruling BJP dispensation for ignoring to mention the name of Curtorim ZP member Michele Rebello on the invitation cards.

He said the ZP member’s name had found mention on the invitation cards for the foundation stone laying program in 2021, demanding to now how come Michele’s name has gone missing from the invitation at the time of the bridge inauguration.

Moreno said that by ignoring to mention the name of the Curtorim on the Invitation card, the ruling dispensation has insulted the people of Curtorim ZP constituency comprising of the people of Curtorim, Sao Jose de Areal and Macazana.

He made a fervent plea to the people of Curtorim ZP constituency as well as the entire Goa to take note of the situation and to teach the BJP a lesson in the Lok sabha polls.

“The bridge has been built by the government from the tax payers’ money. The government has not right to discriminate against the Curtorim ZP member, who belongs to the Congress party,” Moreno added.
