The Goa government has initiated plans to develop a Yoga, Naturopathy and Wellness Centre at Uguem in Sanguem taluka with an estimated investment of Rs 40.28 crore.
The project will be implemented by the Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC) through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis. Towards this, the GFDC has floated a tender and will provide around 60,690 square metres of land at Uguem for the proposed wellness facility.
The Centre is envisaged as an integrated wellness destination offering yoga and meditation facilities, Ayurvedic and naturopathy treatments, wellness therapies and accommodation cottages. The project will also include a restaurant, swimming pool, sauna, massage centre, and nature and river trails to promote holistic health and eco-tourism.
Under the PPP arrangement, the selected private developer will be responsible for financing, constructing, operating and maintaining the facility. The developer will recover the investment through user charges generated from the various services and amenities at the centre.
The project has been proposed on a 32-year concession period, including a two-year construction phase and 30 years of operation and maintenance. Upon completion of the concession period, the entire facility will be transferred back to the GFDC.
