Rs 5.42 cr project to beautify temple at Avem-Cotigao

The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has decided to beautify and renovate the Shree Mallikarjun Temple at Avem-Cotigao at a cost of Rs 5.42 crore.

In a work order issued on Friday, the GTDC informed the contractor, Allabaksh Mulla, that his tender had been accepted and that, the beautification and renovation has to be completed within 240 days, with May 28, 2027 as the stipulated date of completion.

Lauding the work order as a milestone for Canacona, the Minister for Art & Culture and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar reacted in a statement, “This long-awaited project is a significant step towards preserving and enhancing one of Canacona's most revered temples, while improving the overall experience for thousands of devotees and visitors who seek the blessings of Lord Mallikarjun every year.”

Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte and GTDC Chairman Kedar Naik  for bringing the project to fruition, Tawadkar added, “The renovation and beautification of the temple will not only strengthen our spiritual and cultural heritage but will also contribute to tourism, local employment, and the overall development of the region.”
