The beeline for admissions to higher secondary schools have begun with the Goa Board of Secondary Education bracing up to declare the SSC examination results on Thursday.
Anxiety, however, writ large on the faces of students, who have answered SSC examinations affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) as the Delhi-board is expected to declare the SSC results only on June 2.
CBSE students and their parents pointed out that while admissions for the higher secondary schools will commence from Friday after the declaration of results by the Goa Board on Thursday, they will have to wait till June 2 for their admissions.
Many a students appeared keeping their fingers crossed, fearing that the higher secondary institutions may fill up the seats before June, leaving them with no choice in the selection of the institutes. It is learnt that a prominent higher secondary school has reserved only a couple of seats for the CBSE board students.
In the meantime, a visit to some of the prominent higher secondary schools in Margao and the city outskirts have revealed that the institutions have started issuing the prospectus for the students with the declaration of results just a day away.
If the Loyola Higher Secondary School and Carmel Higher Secondary School had started issuing the prospectus since the last couple of days, the Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim opened the gates for the students on Wednesday eager to lay their hands on the prospectus.
In fact, a large number of students made a beeline for the prospectus at the Navelim higher secondary school on day one on Wednesday. Four counters for the sale of prospectus were set up in the school compound for the four streams of Science, Commerce, Arts and Vocational. There was a heavy rush amongst students to lay their hands for the prospectus in the Science stream, followed by Commerce
and Arts.
Almost all the institutes were bracing up to face a heavy rush of students for the prospectus, followed by admissions, beginning from Friday.
