Russian dies in road mishap near college in Bicholim

A 35-year-old Russian rider died while the pillion rider was injured in a road mishap near Zantye College at Vathadev-Bicholim on Tuesday evening.

According to sources, the rider Ilia Rogov and pillion rider Anna Mitina (31) were proceeding from Sankhali to Bicholim.

The deceased lost control of the motorcycle and both fell. An unidentified vehicle ran over the hand of Rogov, causing him serious injuries. Rogov was rushed to the Bicholim Community Health Centre but was declared dead on arrival.

The deceased was staying at a hotel in Morjim, while Mitina was staying at Arambol. Police investigations are in progress.
