Russian tourist, Anna Dremluya, died on the spot on Friday in an accident which took place at 2 pm near Government Primary School at Chopdem-Agarwada after the motorcycle she was pillion riding on skidded on a speed breaker and came under the wheels of a tempo.
The woman, accompanied by her husband Vladimir Demuluya, was travelling from Chopdem to from Morjim at the time. Vladimir could not see the speed breaker, which was not painted. He lost control of the bike.
His wife Anna fell on the road and came under the wheel of a tempo which was behind and died on the spot. Vladimir was shifted to Mapusa District Hospital for treatment. Residents said many speed breakers in Mandrem constituency have not been painted after the rainy season. Some local youth have now started collecting donations to paint them, they added.
