The Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) employee -- charged with rape and molestation -- has been arrested, after evading the police for over 24 hours.
The Mopa police traced him at his residence this morning and formally arrested him for the offense.
He is charged with allegedly raping a 13-year-old high student and molesting her on various occasions.
The arrest follows the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) related to the incident. The accused's mobile phone, used for sending obscene messages to the victim, has been seized as evidence. Besides, the white Wagon R car, in which he committed the crime, has also been confidacated for the investigation.
SDPO Pernem Jivba Dalvi highlighted the accused's attempt to destroy evidence from the mobile, leading to the inclusion of Section 201 IPC. The police sought assistance from a Scientific Expert from the Forensic Science Team, Verna Goa, during the evidence collection process.
The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of PI Narayan A. Chimulkar of Mopa Airport P.S., SDPO Pernem Jivba Dalvi, and SP North, Akshat Kaushal IPS Porvorim.
