A Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) employee is on the run in connection with the alleged rape of a high school student.
The matter came to light when the 13-year-old confided in her teacher, who subsequently informed the Principal. A complaint followed with the Pernem police soon registering an offense.
"The SAG had deployed some of their staff for imparting (sports) training to students. During this time, he developed friendship with the victim and thereafter raped and molested her," police sources said.
It is also learnt that the accused took her to Arambol and Morjim in his car where he committed the offense. He further sent obscene messages to the student on her Instagram ID.
The Pernem police have registered an offense under sections 376(rape), 363(kidnapping) and 354(outraging modesty) of IPC, relevant sections of the POCSO Act, Goa Children's Act and IT Act. A senior officer said they have launched a search for the accused.
