Leader of the Opposition Pratapsing Rane, while inaugurating the machine, said the coin-operated machine is a laudable social initiative, as it will provide clean and hygienic water to the villagers from Sakhali and surrounding areas. The machine costs around Rs 5 lakh and will provide one litre of water after inserting a coin of Re 1and one litre of cold water on insertion of Rs 2 coin. Sakhali Municipal Council Chairperson Dharmesh Saglani, industrialist Srinivas Dempo, ACGL MD O V Ajay, Aquacraft CEO Subramanaya Kusnur, NGO leader Vishwadhara Dahanukar and others were present. Speaking further, Rane said there is no water shortage in Goa, but there is a need for clean drinking water. He also expressed concern over the fact that about 1,000 crore cusecs water flows into the sea due to unavailability of water saving machinery. Dempo said providing drinking clean water to people is a challenge and by installing this machine Aquakraft has done a good job.
