Housing Minister and Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar launched the work to hotmix roads at a cost of Rs 1.3 crore near Gautam Hotel at Alto“Sangolda. The road works were launched in the presence of Sangolda panch members Pushpa Naik and Divya Palyekar.
Speaking on the occasion, Salgaonkar stated that Alto-Sangolda is a well-planned area, but roads had not been hot-mixed for the last 12 years.
“There were persistent demands from residents to hotmix these roads and hence, these roads are being hotmixed at a cost of Rs 1.3 crore,” said Salgaonkar.
Admitting that residents in the area are facing water problems as they are located at a higher altitude, the minister said a new water pipeline has been laid and an overhead water tank of 650 cubic metre capacity has been proposed to address their water woes.
Salgaonkar further mentioned that most development works, such laying of an underground cable from Porvorim to Saligao, sewerage works, beatification of the Salmona spring and hotmixing of internal roads in Saligao constituency are in progress .
“A 20-bedded Primary Health Centre will be set up at Saligao while other works such as Children’s park will be taken up once the basic infrastructure is put in place,” said Salgaonkar.
Later, Salgaonkar launched the hotmixing of roads at Grand Morod in Saligao at an estimated cost of Rs 60 lakh.
