Sanguem Municipal Council (SMC) Chairperson Archana Gaonkar on Thursday filed a police complaint against a Ponda-based YouTuber, accusing him of harassing her and causing her mental tension by recording videos of her at the SMC and making them viral on social media.
Citing an incident on 19 February, Gaonkar stated in her complaint to the Sanguem police that the YouTuber suddenly barged into her cabin at the SMC while she was having discussions with another councillor.
Gaonkar claimed that despite repeated requests to stop filming the discussion with the councillor, the YouTuber continued filming and later aired the clipping on social media.
In her police complaint, Gaonkar also claimed that the YouTuber is acting in connivance with the councillor with whom she was having a discussion in her cabin, only to project her negatively, suggesting that she has not been carrying out any development works in the municipality.
She has also highlighted other incidents involving the YouTuber and the councillor, accusing them of tarnishing her image by releasing videos relating to the SMC and disturbing her mental peace while she has to look into the day-to-day affairs of running Sanguem Municipality. The Sanguem police are investigating the matter.
