SANGUEM

A group of citizens and local political workers from Sanguem marched to the residence of Sanguem MLA and Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai, raising concerns over political representation, reservation issues and recent decisions concerning the constituency.

The gathering outside Phal Dessai’s residence reportedly turned heated as participants voiced their dissatisfaction over the manner in which political decisions were being taken, particularly the alleged lack of consultation with grassroots workers and local stakeholders.

The protesters also raised questions over candidate selection and the possible political implications of decisions taken by the BJP leadership. Remarks attributed to local political leaders, including Damu Naik, also came up for discussion during the interaction.

The gathering comes amid increasing political activity in Sanguem, with local workers and citizens expressing concerns over community representation and the future political direction of the constituency. Discussions also reportedly centred on voting patterns, development issues and the possibility of shifts in political loyalties ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Phal Dessai met the citizens and workers who had gathered outside his residence and heard their concerns. He reportedly maintained that decisions relating to the issues raised by the protesters would have to be placed before the party leadership.

Phal Dessai also clarified that he had no role in the selection of candidates, indicating that such decisions rested with the party leadership.

The march and subsequent interaction have highlighted growing political activity in Sanguem. The development has raised questions over Phal Dessai’s political future in Sanguem, as he would be unable to contest from the constituency if reserved for an ST candidate.
