SANGUEM
The new building of the Primary Health Centre Sanguem will be inaugurated in December, informed Sanguem MLA and Minister for Social Welfare Subhash Phaldessai while on his visit to the new building at Sanguem.
The work of the new building premise was started in the year 2021 and was expected to be completed by end of July. The work is undertaken by GSIDC at the cost of little over 15 crores and is expected to have additional 44 beds in addition to the existing 20 bedded capacity in the old building which was renovated in the year 2019.
As the construction work of the new building premise is nearing completion, Phaldessai said that the building premise will be inaugurated in December.
Incidentally, there is no say as of now on what additional benefits the people from Sanguem will get once the new building premise is inaugurated or whether the facilities will remain the same as the current setup.
It is pertinent to note here that the Sanguem PHC is looked after by the people from Sanguem as a mere first aid treatment facility centre in the absence of any specialists except for an eye specialist.
The patients visiting the Sanguem PHC are most of the times seen shifted either to upgraded Health Centre at Curchorem or Hospicio Margao for regular treatment.
The people from Sanguem have urged the authorities to provide additional infrastructural facilities and services of specialised doctors at the new building premises set to be inaugurated shortly as otherwise the new building premises would serve no purpose.
