Stating that Sanquelim is moving towards a modern town, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said a number of projects have been planned in the town.
The chief minister, who is also MLA of Sanquelim, was speaking after greeting Siddhi Porob after she was elected unopposed as chairperson of Sanquelim Municipal Council (SMC).
Speaking further, Sawant said local self-government bodies should carry out different projects while taking decisions in public interest.
“Local self-government bodies should also make special contributions to protect the environment and should make efforts to be self-sufficient and self-sustainable.”
The chief minister appealed to the municipality to continue contributing towards cleanliness, keeping in mind that the municipality had received a national award for cleanliness
Sawant expressed confidence that Porob would work to give a new direction to the municipal council.
Others present on the occasion included SMC Vice Chairperson Anand Kanekar former mayor Rashmi Desai, councillors, Chief Officer Kabir Shirgaonkar and BJP block president Gopal Surlekar.
Speaking on the occasion, SMC Chairperson Siddhi Porob stated that under the guidance of the chief minister, she would strive to implement many schemes by taking all councillors and citizens into confidence and to implement innovative schemes for a modern city.
