Pt Sharma referred to Late Khanna as a “great and devoted artist”. The santoor maestro said, “Vinod Khanna left his acting career at his peak in Bollywood to join Osho and returned to the film industry and achieved the same peak.” He later went to announce that he is dedicating his concert to Late Khanna.
Pt Sharma recalled his fond association with the Late Khanna, and told the audience how the late actor had requested him to perform at the Osho ashram. “He told me that Osho listens to my santoor melody and asked me to perform at Osho asharmn. This was the kind of relationship which we enjoyed,” Pt Sharma told the audience.
Later, as a prelude to his performance in Margao, Pt Sharma appealed to the audience to connect with the music.
“Connect with melody/mood of music . Don’t get involved in the technicalities,” he remarked.
Earlier, Padmashree Pt Prasad Sawkar, a son-of-the soil and veteran stage actor, inaugurated the five-day ‘Kala Rang’ festival.
Speaking on this occasion, ESG vice-president Rajendra Talak, claimed the present edition of ‘Kala Rang’ as the 17th edition which was first organised in the year 2001.
He defined the main objective behind organising ‘Kala Rang’ was to encourage the budding students in the cultural field as also their parents to send their children in the cultural field. “Although we faced a paucity of funds this year, our sponsors helped us to organise this festival,” he told the audience.
