Addressing the media, Association president Dharmesh Sangllani said private shack owners have been fighting a sustained battle over the last four years demanding that the government work out a permanent solution to the problems faced by the owners.
He made a humble plea to the government to allow the private shack operators to keep the huts in private properties during the monsoons.
“The private shack business is run totally by the Niz Goemkars. You will find all the shack operators in private properties are Goans,” he said, while demanding that the government work out a solution taking into account the interests of locals.
Sangllani also appealed to the MPs representing North and South Goa to take up their cause. Saying that the government has complied with the NGT directions to conduct beach carrying capacity before allotting private shacks, the Association president pointed out that the government should solve their issue without any delay.
The Association also condemned the reported threats and abuses issued to its lawyer, Adv Anacleto Viegas outside the NGT court at Pune earlier this week.
Sangllani has said that the Association will draw attention of the NGT Judge on the threats issued to its lawyer, adding that complaints have been lodged by Adv Viegas against the accused person before Vasco police station.
