Sending a message loud and clear to gullible buyers not to purchase illegal plots without sub division plans and sans proper documents, Sao Jose de Areal villagers on Tuesday made it amply clear that they will not tolerate such illegalities in the village any longer.
the goan I networkrMARGAO rrA delegation of villages led by Freddy Travasso and others on Tuesday morning called on Sarpanch Perris D’Costa, demanding the revocation of a construction licence issued by the panchayat during the tenure of a former sarpanch. They claimed that the licence has been allegedly issued by the panchayat body in an open space in gross violations of planning rules. rThe villagers demanded that the sarpanch revoke the NOC of the construction licence in the open space which the panchayat had issued earlier. Freddy told the media that when the villagers brought the matter to the notice of the sarpanch on Tuesday, Sarpanch Perris has assured the villagers that he will look into the matter and the construction licence on the open space will be revoked and further legal action will be taken if necessary. rFreddy said the villagers do not know which land is acquired for what purpose and by which department, while requesting the people to not purchase illegal plots without sub division plans and without proper documentation in the village of Sao Jose de Areal. r“In the same survey number, a portion of the land is already acquired by the irrigation department, but the villagers are not aware which part stands acquired. Hence, villagers have asked panchayat to make available maps such as PWD road maps, village road map, panchayat road map, water pipe line map, both the railways map - Konkan railway map and the SWR map, forest map, comunidade map, industrial map for phase I and II,” he added.
