The Shri Damodar Bhajani Saptah (Bazarkar) Festival Committee on Monday formally began preparations for the annual religious festival with traditional prayers at the Shri Damodar Temple.
As part of the customary ritual, Committee President Bharat Kolgaonkar, accompanied by Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar, placed the festival receipt book at the holy feet of Lord Shri Damodar, seeking divine blessings for the smooth and successful conduct of this year's Bhajani Saptah.
Members of the festival committee were also present and offered prayers, marking the official commencement of the preparations.
The Shri Damodar Bhajani Saptah is one of Vasco's most revered spiritual traditions, drawing large numbers of devotees every year. The committee has already begun planning various religious programmes and making arrangements to ensure the week-long celebrations are conducted in a peaceful and devotional atmosphere.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sankalp Amonkar said he was grateful to participate in the prayers and sought the blessings of Lord Shri Damodar for the good health, happiness and prosperity of all devotees. He also wished the festival committee success in organising the Saptah and expressed confidence that the event would once again strengthen the spirit of devotion and unity among the people.
Committee Secretary Suresh Naik informed members that the traditional visit to Shri Damodar Temple at Zambaulim will take place on Thursday as part of the customary rituals preceding the Saptah.
He requested all committee members and devotees to assemble on time, stating that the bus will depart promptly at 3 pm for Zambaulim, where a ceremonial coconut will be offered to Lord Shri Damodar before the commencement of the Bhajani Saptah.
The committee appealed to devotees and well-wishers to extend their wholehearted support and actively participate in the upcoming religious celebrations, continuing the long-standing tradition of faith and devotion associated with the Shri Damodar Bhajani Saptah.
