VASCO
Members of Shree Damodar Bhajani Saptah Samiti led by President Jagdish Durbhatkar on Saturday evening offered prayers to Lord Damodar at Zambaulim Damodar Saunsthan.
The members along with prominent residents of Vasco offered a coconut to Lord Damodar as per traditional rituals while offering prayers for a successful Shree Damodar Bhajani Saptah at Vasco.
This is the 122nd year of the Damodar Saptah Festival celebration in Vasco.
Santosh Khorjuvekar of the Damodar Bhajani Saptah organising committee speaking to reporters said that members place the coconut at the feet of Lord Damodar in Zambaulim and later bring it back to the Vasco Damodar temple a few days prior to the Saptah celebrations in Vasco .
"Our ancestors began the tradition and we have been doing this for the last so many years to seek the blessing of Lord Damodar before we begin the works on the Damodar Bhajani Saptah in Vasco,"said Khorjuvekar.
"This year also Vasco was hit by Covid-19 cases so this year too the Saptah which is celebrated with such grandeur usually will be celebrated in a subdued manner. We however are hopeful that history will repeat itself and we pray that Lord Damodar blesses us and we may be able to overcome the Covid 19 pandemic as well," said Khorjuvekar.
The 122nd Shree Damodar Bhajani Saptah festival will be held in Vasco next month.
