“Saraswat Ratna Award” was conferred on renowned neuro spinal surgeon Dr PS Ramani at the hands of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at a glittering function held in Mumbai on Saturday.
The Award instituted by All India Saraswat Cultural Organisation was conferred on Dr Ramani for his substantial contribution in the field of medical science.
Padma Vibhushan Dr Anil Kakodkar, veteran film actor Ashok Saraf and others graced the occasion.
Dr Ramani is working on several social committees and has dedicated last 45 years of his life to the development of spinal surgery in India. Dr Ramani who settled in Mumbai has helped hundreds of poor patients by rendering service through conduct of medical camps.
Dr Ramani has penned several books enlightening the public in medical and other varied fields. He has been chosen for Gomant Vibhushan Award, which is the highest civilian honour being conferred by the Goa government.
