Welcoming the Supreme Court verdict on the double-tracking project, South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha on Wednesday demanded that the government immediately withdraw all the cases foisted on the people of Goa participating in the anti-coal agitation.
Addressing the media in the presence of South Goa Congress district president Savio D’Silva, the MP said the verdict should at least now open the eyes of the government that the double-tracking project was being bulldozed by violating the environmental norms.
Saying that the people, who had participated in the anti-coal agitation had hit the roads for the better good of Goa, Sardinha demanded immediate withdrawal of the case.
On the Mormugao Port Trust, Sardinha reiterated his demand that the jurisdiction of the Mormugao Port Authority should be restricted to the Port only and not beyond. He urged the State government to adopt a resolution and lead an all-party delegation to the Prime Minister to demand restriction of the MPA to the port area.
