PORVORIM
Rival groups have been eager to claim credit for projects and this was demonstrated in Socorro when roadworks in the village were launched twice within an hour on Wednesday.
The BJP-supported Socorro Sarpanch Sandeep Vazarkar launched the work to tar four internal internal roads at about 4 pm, while Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte launched the same roadworks at about 5 pm.
In the first event, Vazarkar launched the tarring of internal roads at Aradi, Limawaddo and Bhutkiwaddo in the presence of his supporters.
Speaking on the occasion, Vazarkar said the tarring of the four internal roads were pending for quite a long time.
“The panchayat met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and PWD Minister Deepak Pawaskar, before these roadworks were cleared at a cost of 14 lakh.”
“Hotmixing of the road from the Socorro church to Vaddem will be taken up shortly. Later, repairs of culverts and construction of retaining wall will be undertaken,” said Vazarkar.
About an hour later, Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte launched the same roadworks at Aradi, Limawaddo and Bhutkiwaddo in the presence of ZP member Kavita Naik, former ZP member Vaishally Satardeker and some panch members.
