MARGAO
The Margao Salcete Truck Owners Association has urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to resume mining operations at the earliest, demanding to know why the proposed mining corporation was not set up in the state since 2012.
Addressing the media, Association president Franky Gomes demanded to know whether the setting up of the Corporation will in any way help the truck owners from Margao and Salcete to get the transport business.
He pointed out that the stone crushers, which were set up at many parts of the Goa are now being operated by people from outside the state, adding that the same fate should not befall the mining stakeholders after the mining corporation comes into force.
“The Chief Minister should stop giving assurance and start the mining activity. If he is serious in starting the mining activities, the government should start the activity before the elections”, he demanded.
