VALPOIrrThe police, forest department and excise department officials have been checking vehicles proceeding towards the Charavne, Pali, Hivre and Chorla Ghat waterfalls. The teams have also come down strongly on those intoxicated tourists causing a menace in the area. rWhen contacted, Valpoi PI Deepak Pednekar said the police are acting on orders of the deputy collector. r“Police have been deployed at Chorla Ghat and other prominent places in Sattari taluka. We will also check the driving licences of motorists and strict action will be initiated against those creating a menace at the waterfalls,” he added. rValpoi Excise Inspector Amol Harvalkar said illegal liquor bottles have been seized after checking all vehicles. “This action will continue in the future,” he added. rMhadei Forest Division Officer Prakash Salelkar said there will be action against those who enter in the Mhadei forest with alcohol and plastic. r“The Mhadei forest is an eco-sensitive zone and polluting items can be hazardous to the environment,” he added.
Sattari tourist spots under police vigil
The government machinery has intensified patrolling at tourist spots in Sattari taluka following a recent incident wherein a youth lost his life after the jeep he was travelling in fell into the Saleli waterfalls.
