Saturday shock for Canacona: no power supply

CANACONA: Entire Canacona taluka will be without power supply on Saturday, as the electricity department has planned an annual shutdown for maintenance of Xeldem and Cuncolim sub-stations.

According to sources, a planned annual shutdown has been arranged from 220/110/33/11 KV, 250 MVA sub-station at Xeldem and 220/33 KV, 150 MVA sub-station at Cuncolim in South Goa on April 16 from 8 am and to 2 pm.

The shutdown has been arranged to carry out pre-monsoon maintenance works on 220 KV, 110 KV & 33KV lines and the switch-yard at Xeldem and Cuncolim and also in the associated 33/11KV sub-stations feeding from Xeldem sub-station.

There will be no power supply in the areas of Canacona, Rivona, Sanguem, Xelpem, Cuncolim, Quepem, Assolda, Xeldem, Sanvordem, Benaulim, Velim, Carmona, Nessai, Shigao, Curchorem and Painguim.

Water supply will also be affected, as power will be shutdown to Selaulim water works at Xelpem during the period. Consumers in the area are requested to take note of it, states the press note issued by electricity department.
