The decision was taken at the meeting of Mayem Block Congress committee at Mahamaya library which was called at Gaonkarwada-Mayem, which was attended by Congress party senior leader Dr Chellakumar, Girish Chodankar, Mayem Block Congress committee president Anand Naik, vice-president Ashok Nagvekar, secretary Sandeep Naik, Prof Deelip Dhargalkar, Mayem candidate Santoshkumar Sawant, Suraj Poojari, Subodh Amonkar and a large number of Congress workers from Mayem Assembly constituency.
During the meeting, all the block members resolved to extend their wholehearted support to Santoshkumar and pledged to make all out efforts to ensure his victory from Mayem constituency.
Block president Anand Naik said, “Our committee has decided to participate in door-to-door campaigning for Sawant and we will do our best to convince people about the merits of the Congress party and Sawant as the vehicles to bring about a change in Mayem, which has been languishing behind.”
Stating that he himself was one of contenders for Congress party ticket for Mayem, he said earlier there were some complaints against party seniors with regard to the candidature, but now all the misunderstandings have been cleared.
