Sawant launches app to assist disabled

Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Dr Pramod Sawant on Saturday expressed the need for greater use of the newly launched voice disability app among the disabled persons in Goa.
He was speaking at the 14th anniversary of Disability Rights Association of Goa (DRAG).
Dr Sawant said that he will push for free smart phones to the disabled population of Goa so that they can use the voice app, which was launched on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering Dr Sawant said, "The mobile app which has been launched today will benefit all the disabled people of Goa. I will ask the social welfare department to get a survey done off all the disabled people in Goa and if required, I will put up a proposal to the government to provide them with free smart phones so that they can connect to different people through the voice disability app."
Referring to the the Disability Act, 2016 Dr Sawant that he has requested the Social welfare minister Pandurang Madkaikar to organize a meeting by the end of November with different associations to ensure the protection of the rights of the disabled.
