Vijai, Sudin locked in war of words
TCP Minister Vijaibab Sardesai and PWD Minister Sudinbab Dhavalikar were reportedly engaged in yet another round of boxing this week “ this time over Dr Jack de Sequeira’s statue. The duo, sources said, were involved in heated exchanges after the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting in the presence of Chief Minister Manoharbhai Parrikar and Varca strongman Bab Churchill and in full view of officials. When Sudinbab is believed to have reiterated his suggestion to install statues at one place, the TCP Minister hit back saying whether Sudinbab has something up his sleeve to build tombs under the PWD department, prompting Manoharbhai to intervene to cool down tempers. A visibly agitated Vijaibab is believed to have even gone to the extent of asking Sudinbab whether he is ready to sit in the Opposition, raising questions whether this was one reason why MGP chief Deepakbab Dhavalikar accused Goa Forward for trying to destabilise the coalition government. Wait and watch.

‘B’ factor prevalent in Margao civic body
The “B” factor was very much prevalent in the Margao Municipal Council earlier this week when Gandhi market vendors took a morcha to the civic body in support of their demands. This became evident when discussions between MMC Chairperson Babitabai Prabhudesai and the vendors came to a sudden halt when a representative of the vendors handed over his cell phone to the Municipal Chairperson. For a moment, an eerie silence prevailed around after Babitabai lent her ears to the voice on the cell phone and even tried to reassure the caller not to worry, saying she would solve the problem. While everyone was doing the guesswork to find out who the caller is, realisation later dawned that the caller was none other than Sports Minister Babu Azgaonkar, the undisputed leader of the Gandhi market vendors, who was trying to persuade all and sundry to see reason and meet the vendors’ demands. Any questions.
Comparison between Cong MLAs, Mahila Cong
Who’s more vocal in their criticism of the Manoharbhai Parrikar-led government “ the 16-member Congress Legislative party led by Babu Kavlekar or the Mahila Congress headed by Pratimabai Coutinho? Well, comparison of the role played by the Congress MLAs and the Mahila Congress has become the talking point, especially in Saxttidom, more so after issues taken up by the Congress mahilas over the last two months. While the Congress mahilas hopped from constituency to constituency to expose the coalition government for its various sins of omission and commission, the MLAs appeared content in addressing media conferences to drive home their point against the ruling dispensation. Sounds surprising, isn’t it? Wait and watch as all eyes will be focused once again on the Congress MLAs in the ensuing session of the Goa Legislative Assembly.
What’s Vijai’s connection with Colombo?
The first consignment of coconuts from the island nation of Sri Lanka “ mooted by Agriculture Minister Vijaibab Sardesai -- might not have landed at the MPT till date to tide over the coconut shortage facing Xittkoddi eating Goemkars. But, hold on. It’s Carnival time “ a time to make fun and merry. And, the We For Fatorda, a Vijai Sardesai initiative, has roped in the Slipping Chairs, a popular band from Colombo, Sri Lanka, to perform at the Big Fat Fatorda Carnival Blast 2018 at the Opinion Poll Square on Saturday. Vijaibab’s political opponents, including Sidhanathbab Buyao, however, are on the job, trying to figure out TCP Minister’s connection with Colombo. Buyao clearly remembers how Vijaibab and his Goa Forward team had landed at Colombo to celebrate the 2017 election victory, his plans to import coconut from Sri Lanka and now the Sleeping Chairs band descending right on the Fatorda turf. Any questions.
