Parrikar government has fooled Goans on jobs: Reginaldo

MARGAO

Congress MLA Reginaldo Lourenco on Saturday said the Manohar Parrikar government has failed miserably on the issue of job creation, saying that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has fooled Goemkars by his false promise of reserving 80 per cent jobs to locals in the companies operating in Goa.

He also took potshots at the BJP for making tall promises in the 2012 election manifesto to create 50,000 jobs by 2017 in the State, but did nothing after assuming power.

The Curtorim MLA said the BJP government in Goa has never been serious in the creation of employment opportunities for Goemkars in the last eight years of its governance in Goa. “The so-called promise made in the Goa Industrial Investment Policy of 2013-18 has been a fiasco as it has neither attracted investment of Rs 25,000 crore nor has created the promised 50,000 jobs within a span of five years,” he ridiculed.

Reginaldo pointed out that the promise made in the 2017 BJP manifesto stating that State will become unemployment free in the next five years is again a bundle of white lies to deceive gullible Goemkars.

“Similarly, the industrial policy announced by Manohar Parrikar in December 2017 which speaks of incentivizing industries for giving 80 per cent jobs to locals is impossible because this government reneges on its promises at the drop of a hat,” he added.

Saying that the pompous Manohar Parrikar’s government has not devised any strategy to fight against unemployment plaguing Goa, Reginaldo said there is absolutely zero work on creation of human resources for Goa. “Goemkars are surprised that Parrikar, who has been a complete failure since 2012 in all spheres of governance, including creation of jobs, all of a sudden promised to resolve job-related issues by October-end,” he added.

Margao council says it’s firm on tax recovery

MARGAO   After banks, including nationalized ones, and big time shopping malls in the commercial capital were caught evading rent running into lakhs to the Margao Municipal Council, more skeletons started tumbling out of the cupboards during the ongoing drive being conducted by the civic body against tax defaulters.   Action against just three banks and a shopping mall promises to enrich the coffers of the cash-starved Margao municipality by close to a…
