Cong raises doubt about CM chairing meet, accuses BJP of bluffing

PANAJI: The Opposition Congress on Sunday raised doubts over the reported meetings conducted by the ailing Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar with the legislators of the ruling BJP on Saturday.
“Who saw Parrikar chairing the meeting of MLAs other than these MLA’s,” Congress spokesperson Jitendra Deshprabhu questioned at a press conference at the Congress headquarters.
He alleged that the BJP MLAs and Ministers are hiding the truth for their selfish interest.
"Why is Parrikar not meeting opposition party MLAs when the Opposition leader has repeatedly sought appointments. Why are even media persons are not allowed to meet the CM," Deshprabhu asked.
He also alleged that the BJP is bluffing about Parrikar’s health to use the ‘fear factor’ and pre-empt some BJP and coalition MLAs from leaving the flock.
“BJP leaders are bluffing about the CM’s health condition repeatedly. Earlier, BJP state president had made a false claim that the CM will resume work in November,” Deshprabhu recalled.
He also charged that ministers in the government are misusing the freedom as the CM is ill and want this situation to continue for their personal benefit.
Criticising Speaker Dr Pramod Sawant for lobbying to lift the fish import ban, Deshprabhu said, the Speaker of the House is acting like the CM of the state.
Supporting Health Minister Vishwajit Rane’s step to ban import of fish from other States, Deshprabhu said the Speaker is nobody to express opinions on the Health Minister's decision.
“Does the Speaker want people of the state to eat formalin-laced fish and die,” he asked.
