Says, has complained to CM on Sopo contract award

PONDA rnPonda MLA Lavu Mamledar said he has complained to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar regarding irregularities in the awarding of the Sopo tax contract in Ponda.rnAddressing a news conference on Tuesday, Mamledar cited the issue of Sopo tax rate being hiked from Rs 3 to 20 by Ponda Municipal Council while failing to raise the bidding price.

“When PMC hikes the Sopo rate, it should also raise the bidding price. How can it award a tender for only Rs 60 lakh, which should have been at least Rs 2 crore as per the revised Sopo tax rate?” Mamledar asked.
“I had complained to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar regarding irregularities in awarding the Sopo tax contract. Those people from the BJP who were making allegations against me should put pressure on the CM and get the case investigated, if they are clean,” Mamledar demanded.
“I openly challenge those who are against me to have a debate on all issues. I will prove that I have worked for the people of Ponda. Let them prove they have not obstructed the development of Ponda,” Mamledar said.
Gaurav Kurtarkar, who attends to works of the MLAs office, alleged that local BJP leaders had failed to get Rs 200 crore into the PMC’s treasury, as it was announced by former chief minister Manohar Parrikar during PMC poll.
“They should follow up the matter with Parrikar and get the money, which he had announced during a public meeting at Aguiar ground in Ponda,” Kurtakar said.
He said Parrikar had also assured to appoint consultant for ‘reverse engineering’ of market complex.
“Why has a consultant not been appointed till date? Where are Rs 25 crore sanctioned for traffic management plan? Why has BJP failed to upgrade the sub-district hospital into a district hospital and why have they failed to send an officer to estimate the development of the sports complex,” questioned Kurtakar. He claimed that works of four-laning, water facility to housing board colonies, Kranti maidan, retaining walls at several places and Kashimath ground are being built only after they were frequently pursued by the MLA.
