Aware that the next assembly elections are barely months away, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Thursday stated that the government's focus was to complete the pending projects.
“As a result, new projects like a multi-storeyed complex in the heart of Bicholim town, which is on the cards, will be given due priority, but only after the next assembly election,” he added.
Parsekar was speaking after inaugurating Bicholim Police Station at Bicholim, which has been constructed by repairing the old PHC building at Bicholim and the GSIDC constructed the building at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore.

Parsekar stated that the police works for the protection of people and hence it becomes the duty of the people to co-operate and apprise them about illegalities to control crimes. He also cautioned the police not to take undue advantage of any case.
Speaking about different schemes launched by the BJP government, Parsekar said the schemes are launched for the benefit of poor people, as it is the duty of every government to provide financial relief to the needy people to some extent.
Speaker Shet said people should not rely only on police for controlling crimes but on the contrary, they should become a support system for police.
Dr Pramod Sawant said the new police building constructed by GSIDC will be retained for next 35 years, thus helping the police to handle their work in a good manner.
Naresh Sawal said police need good work environment to solve crimes and as the old police station was not good enough to encourage their work, it was necessary to shift them to a new place.
Earlier, IGP Sunil Garg welcomed the gathering, while PI Narayan Chimulkar delivered an introductory address, followed by mass drill by policemen. SP Umesh Gaonkar compered the programme, while DySP Ramesh Gaonkar proposed the vote of thanks.
