Taking another step towards the demolition of the controversial structure which has come up within heritage precincts of St Cajetan Church, the Se Old Goa panchayat has decided to hold an inspection of the construction on January 13, 2022, from 11 am onwards.
A notice to this effect was issued by Sarpanch Janita Madkaikar to Sumermal Jain of Corvus Urban Infrastructures Ltd on Thursday.
The panchayat has asked the parties concerned to remain present for the inspection which will begin on January 13 from 11 am onwards and file their say in writing, if any, along with attested copies of documents in support of the illegal construction.
The panchayat has further stated that in the absence of the parties concerned, no further opportunity will be given and the site inspection will be conducted ex-parte.
Further, the report prepared after the site inspection will be placed before the fortnightly meeting of the panchayat for a future course of action.
It may be recalled that the panchayat had initially issued a stop-work order to the structure which was followed by a show-cause notice asking why the construction and renewal licences should not be revoked.
After receiving replies to the show-cause notices, the panchayat had revoked the licences stating that the replies were not satisfactory. The panchayat had cited violation of CRZ permission, ASI permission and revocation of technical clearance by TCP.
Meanwhile, several nuns from different congregations participated in the fast satyagraha on its 37th day and extended their support to the agitation.
