SEAC seeks transport, tree enumeration details for 3 ore dump recovery projects

The State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) has sought details on traffic assessment, transport management, mine closure planning and tree enumeration from the proponents of three iron ore dump recovery projects in Sanguem.

At its recent meeting, the committee scrutinised two applications submitted by Sarus Infrastructures Private Limited and one by Goa Sponge and Power Ltd, all involving the scientific handling and recovery of iron ore from existing dumps in Costi and Dudal villages of South Goa.

Sarus Infrastructures has proposed recovery of iron ore from existing iron ore dump spread over 3.80 hectares (9.389 acres) in survey No. 2/1(P) at Costi village, and  another dump covering 1.15 hectares (2.842 acres) in Survey No. 1/1(P) of the same village.

Goa Sponge and Power Ltd has sought approval for scientific handling and recovery of iron ore from iron dump spread across 4.90 hectares (12.108 acres) in Survey No. 14/1(P) of Costi village and Survey No. 55/5(P) of Dudal village.

The committee directed all three project proponents to submit a Traffic Assessment Study, Transport Management Plan, Mine/Dump Closure Plan, and details regarding tree enumeration and plantation. It also asked them to pay the applicable processing fee before the proposals are considered further.
